YEOFORD Yarns meets every month to sew and knit, learning from each other, every now and then having a specialist tutor. It began 15 years ago and has thrived.

Its members are all enthusiastic and talented. Every year they set a challenge for all members.

This year the challenge was using the colour blue - so there was patchwork, cushions, needle cases, a wall hanging and a picture among the sewing entries while the knitted entries included children’s jumpers, a wall hanging and a muff.

Knitting winners were - 1 Vera Rolls, child’s hooded jersey; 2 Vi Berry, Twiddlemuff for people with dementia; 3 Agnes Burrow, child’s jumper.

Sewing - 1 Chris Marshall, mermaid wallhanging; 2 Sandra Thresher, patchwork; 3 Marj Gleed, picture.

This year’s winners choose the colour for next year’s challenge.
