LAPFORD Horticultural Association’s Spring Show was a great success with some superb exhibits, and a total of 100 entries.

The judges were Bert Jewell (flowers and vegetables) and Margaret Jewell (floral art) and they jointly judged the Photography classes.

The judge for the Homecraft and Crafts section was Margaret Stacey.

The Joan Henderson Memorial Cup for the most points in show was won by Joan Graham, who also won the award for Best Exhibit in Show with three white daffodils.

Joan also received a prize from Gerald Leach who was at the show with his wartime memorabilia.

Runner-up for Most points was Eileen Ridd and in joint third place were Sue Briant-Evans and Edna Copus.

Results were: Photography - Jeanne Whittaker, Rebecca Holley and Edna Copus; Crafts - Joyce Mann, Joan Graham, Rebecca Holley and Sue Briant-Evans; Homecraft - Trisha Mumford, Sue Briant-Evans, James Mumford and Trisha Mumford; Floral Art - Ann Stentiford and Joan Graham; Vegetables - Edna Copus, Joan Graham, Joyce Mann and Eileen Ridd; Flowers - Sue Briant-Evans, Rowan Peto, Rebecca Holley, Eileen Ridd, Trisha Mumford, Edna Copus, Rowan Peto, Joan Graham, Jeanne Whittaker and Ann Stentiford; Eggs - Sue Briant-Evans.

An excellent show, despite the previous bad weather.

Refreshments were served throughout the afternoon and there was a grand draw. Sue Braint-Evans thanked everyone for their support, and those who took entries, sold the draw tickets and the ladies who worked hard in the kitchen.
