Filmed primarily during the summer of 2016, and with the help of more than 250 people, the UK’s largest cardboard box fort (and quite possibly the largest outside of America!) was built in Newcombes Meadow in Crediton by kind permission of Mid Devon District Council.
The film producer and director, Dom Lee, from Crediton, said he was delighted that about 100 people attended the premiere, after which there was a short Question and Answer session with himself and Luke Morley, who played the child role of James in the film.
Before the screening, Dom said: “You’ll be able to spot familiar sights from around the town and even a few cameo appearances from well-known local people. Proceeds from the premiere will be donated to Hospiscare.
’Ten-year-old James and his Mum love nothing more than constructing things from cardboard, darting round the house in their cardboard box car creation.
“Mum has an idea for their most ambitious project to-date - a cardboard box fort made from thousands of boxes.
“After a turn of events, James and Dad take over the planning of the fort and set out to build it with the help of the local community…”
Dom told his audience at the premiere that it has been scheduled to appear at five film festivals and will be released online later in the year.
Proceeds from the premiere were donated to Hospiscare.
