THE weekend of March 24 and 25 saw teams from Crediton’s Queens Badminton Club take part in the new League competition and they achieved some great results.

UNDER 16’S

The Under 16’s were represented by Aaron Beel, Ryan Dawson, Eleanor O’Callaghan and Emilia Partridge.

Aaron Beel won two out of three singles matches, losing only to Ben Hussey of the Exeter Performance Centre (and also a Queens player!).

Eleanor O’Callaghan won all three of her singles and then pairing up for men’s and ladies doubles where all players were victorious.

Lorraine Beel, parent and supporter said: “They all worked extremely well as a team. It was a great all-round performance. Now they will take part in the National Clubs Finals in May.”

UNDER 14’S

The Under 14’s, represented by Evan Dawson, Oliver Teale, William Teale, Rhianna Beel and Zoe Housley lost out on winning their age group by one single match.

It came down to the last fixture against Kuasa where both singles players, William and Zoe, were stretched to winning in three ends.

Zoe and Rhianna, and Evan and Rhianna both won their doubles, but Oliver and Evan just lost out in theirs.

Sarah Preece, Queens Lead Coach said: “Great play by all, very exciting and it was nice to see such great support from parents.

“There are a couple more tournaments to finish off the season and it would be fantastic to finish on such a strong standing.”
