FOR the second year running, Crediton Swimming Club's first meet of the year took them to Shrewsbury for the Masters' Open on January 4.
The aims of the open meet were to clear the cobwebs, see where the team stands with regards training (or sometimes lack of it) and put some points onto the masters decathlon competition for 2014.
The format for the day was to swim five races including one distance of each stroke (25m, 50m, 100m) and the 100m Individual Medley.
Medals (or socks) were won by Emma, who was joint age group winner, and so won some extra chocolates and Rob and Darren who came third in their respective age groups.
Matt did not quite manage a medal in the 50m breast stroke this year but did excel in the 50m back stroke by winning his age group for the swim of his meet.
Emma won two of her races with a very good 50m fly and going under 31 seconds in the 50m freestyle.
Rob won one race, the 25m breast stroke dash (the fastest of the competition).
He will also say he smashed his 100m freestyle heat by beating the opposition by a length - the youngest opponent being 76!
Darren won the 100m butterfly and produced masters' age group personal bests in the 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle.
