FOUR members of staff from Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton competed in the Devon School’s Championships Clip & Climb held in Exeter and won first place.

It is the second year that a team from Hayward’s has taken part, competing against other primary and secondary schools.

Last year the team finished in the top 10 and this year’s team, Dave Bamber, Jacky Pike, Sarah Everitt and Ben Geale were delighted to come top.

Each team member competed in four separate climbs in an allotted time in the climbing arena with points allocated for difficulty of the challenge completed.

There was an easy option and extra points were awarded for a tougher option.

One member of each team was nominated to compete in the bonus challenge and Dave Bamber took part in the "Leap of Faith" for Hayward’s and recorded the longest distance.

As winners of the event Hayward’s received vouchers for children from four classes to go to Clip & Climb.
