DEVON heroes from all walks of life were honoured at the Radio Exe Pride of Devon Awards, sponsored by Solve-IT.
At the prestigious event held at the Devon County Shows Vice Presidents Pavilion last week the 13 and winners their guests enjoyed a glamorous ceremony, hosted by Radio Exes Paul Nero and Ben Clark.
Among those picking up awards was a Crediton woman, Sharon Hawkins.
Sharon received the Community Sport Award for her service to badminton and especially with the Devon Racqueteers.
Now the largest wheelchair badminton club in the country and Badminton Englands club of the year, Devon Racqueteers has thrived under Sharons leadership.
Two of the players she has coached represent Englands para-badminton team at the European Championships and many others have won medals at competitions at home and abroad.
Sharon is chairperson of the club.
Other award recipients were: Ronald Crabb BEM of Heavitree, Exeter; Jamie Wordsworth of Exeter; Bradley Oliver of Chudleigh; Jo Pearce, of Kennford; Mike Muir, of Clyst Honiton; Caroline Trude of Clyst Hydon; Hayley Pick of Cullompton; Ron Cardy of Exminster; Annie Corcoran of St Thomas, Exeter; Karen Dunning of Dawlish and Gina Awad of Exeter.
Kris Daniels of Solve-IT says: Pride of Devon recognises individuals who give up their time to support others, excel in what they do and those who are always prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the extraordinary.
