A SEASON often ruined by the weather has finally drawn to a close for Sandford Cricket Club.

Sandford's sides had mixed fortunes as the Devon League First Eleven were relegated to the A Division while the Second Eleven were promoted as champions from the Second Eleven A Division to the Premier Division.

This however could all change as the League Management are proposing "An all-through league" where clubs would find their own level whether First or Second Elevens.

This could result in the two teams starting in the new Second and Fourth divisions.

The two North Devon League Sunday sides have finished in mid table. Availability has been the main issue and the club is currently considering its options for next season.

A new community cricket league proved a huge success and was won in its inaugural year by Sandford Parents.

At the club's annual presentation evening the following received recognition: First Eleven player of the year, George Greed; Second Eleven player of the year, Shaun Fryett; Sunday First Eleven player of the year, Shaun Hawkins; Sunday Second Eleven player of the year, Ash Baker; President's Young Player of the year, Scott Tremain; Chairman's Clubman of the year, Phil Matten; Charleworth Nicholl Outstanding Achievement, Scott Tremain (batting average 91.75); Graphic Plc Most Improved Player, Shaun Fryett and the Terry Eakers Trophy for Fielder of the year, Steve Morish.
