DEVON and Cornwall Police has been working with cricket clubs to reduce equipment theft.
Following a number of reports of tractors, mowers and other high-value equipment stolen from sports clubs across Devon this year, its crime prevention team has been working closely with victims to identify a solution.
As a result of this work, Devon and Cornwall Police has part-funded SmartWater forensic marking kits by DeterTech, and has fully funded anti-theft signage.
These packages are now being offered to sports clubs in the county in a bid to deter thieves and to ensure any stolen equipment can be returned to its rightful owner. Each kit retails for £300 and has been offered to clubs for just £60.
Devon Cricket Foundation Facilities and Funding Manager, Nick Goodliffe, has been hugely supportive of the scheme and more than 50 clubs have already signed up.
