AN award-winning cheerleading team can celebrate in style after being given the go-ahead to move to a new home.

The Exeter Starlites have been given permission to use an old warehouse on the Marsh Barton industrial estate as a training venue.

Exeter City Council’s planning officers have said yes to the change of use from a warehouse at Grace Road.

The Starlites have athletes competing in European competitions as well as encouraging beginners to try the demanding sport.

The club was established in 2008 by a handful of enthusiastic members, and has been running training sessions in Exeter and Cranbrook.

On its website the club says: “Over the years we have built a strong and supportive community that thrives on energy, teamwork, and passion.”

Exeter Starlites say it also helps young people build confidence, improve self-esteem, stay active, and develop lasting friendships.
