NEXT week Devon’s newest fencing club welcomes new learners to the sport of Olympic Fencing.
Heart of Devon Swords launches a beginner class for all ages, from 11 to 101, at mid-day on Saturday, July 2 at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre in Crediton.
Coach, Jason Ball, said: “Fencing is a stress-busting high energy workout for the body and mind - it’s definitely a bit unusual and lots of people have never tried it.
“So here’s your chance to become a fencer in just a few fast-track lessons!”
Fencing is renowned as a fast-paced, modern Olympic sport, where competitors train their mental agility and physical skills to out-play their opponents.
Fencers always wear protective gear and follow respectful etiquette - each bout begins and ends with a polite salute.
Heart of Devon Swords emerged in April this year from under the wings of the long-established Tiverton Swords Fencing Club as a new “sister” club, and proved to be popular.
All kit is provided for beginners.
Trainee places are limited, so booking is essential.
