A LOCAL fencing club that trains in Crediton has launched a crowdfunding appeal so it can offer accessible “seated fencing”.
Heart of Devon Swords wants to buy a SwordSeat, a plywood flat-pack design that is portable and easy to assemble.
“This kit is ideal for all fencers to train together - seated fencing is like a level playing field and it's exciting stuff,” said club president Jason Ball.
“Just watch a clip of the fencing finals in the Paris Paralympics - it was awesome!”
The Crowdfunder for Heart of Devon Swords pays pledges into the county fencing union's bank account and any surplus funds above the £1,100 target will go towards accessibility at fellow Devon clubs.

The club welcomes enquiries from anyone who would like to learn how to fence, seated or standing. Message the coach via Instagram, Facebook, or text/ telephone 07719 225965.
