THE Kirton and District Ladies Darts League (KDLDL) held their first Charity Shield evening at Buccaneers Bar on Friday, November 2, in memory of Jeanette (Nette) Titt.
A total of 23 players from the League (some in fancy dress) attended the event, playing games of blind pairs and holding a raffle.
Teams and local companies provided raffle prizes, with special thanks going to Springfield Emporium, Quicke’s Traditional Ltd, James Stagg Painting & Decorating Ltd and to everyone who gave monetary donations.
Joan Grant, Nette’s long-time friend, attended with her husband Ivan to cheer the players on.
June Bilcock presented the shield and keepsake medals at the end of the evening. Joan and June started playing darts for the League when it started in 1970.
The League will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee in 2020.
Thanks also go to Committee members past and present, to the players for making it such an enjoyable evening and to Graham Gratwick and staff for hosting the venue.
A grand total of £138 was raised on the night, which will be donated to the British Heart Foundation in memory of Jeanette (Nette) Titt, who sadly passed away in May.
Congratulations go to Pam Powlesland and Teresa Mitchell, runners-up, and to winners Caroline Snell and Kirsty Woodward.
