A TEAM from Jewells Garage in Crediton will be pulling on their walking boots and taking part in the Men’s Walk on Saturday, March 7, to raise vital funds for local charity, Hospiscare.

The team of 10 will complete a seven-mile sponsored walk from Double Locks along Exeter’s Quayside, joining participants from across the heart of Devon to support the Exeter-based charity.

Aiming to raise £500, their fundraising will help the hospice continue to provide free, expert end-of-life care and support to local people living with terminal illnesses and their families across Exeter, central and east Devon.

Hospiscare delivers care in patients’ homes, at its specialist ward in Exeter, in community settings, and relies heavily on fundraising support and donations to continue its work.

The charity receives just 20% of its funding from the NHS.

It has four sites: Searle House in Exeter, which has an eight-bed ward, Kings House in Honiton, Pine Lodge in Tiverton and High View in Exmouth, which provide outpatient services.

The charity’s nursing teams are located across the region, providing care in patients’ homes and community settings.

Dan Knight of Jewells Garage said: “Hospiscare is a charity that means a great deal to many families in our area. The care and support they provide is invaluable, and we’re proud to be taking part in the Men’s Walk to help raise funds for such an important local cause.”

Donations can be made via the team’s JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/page/jewells-garage-1 or you can leave a donation at the garage, located at Lords Meadow Trading Estate.

The Jewells Garage team hopes their involvement will help raise awareness of Hospiscare’s work and encourage others in the community to support the charity.
