ASCEND, a strength and conditioning gym and yoga studio in Willand, is marking its first year in business by fundraising for a public access defibrillator.
The gym will host a community open day on Saturday, September 19, from 11.30am to 2.30pm, with all proceeds going towards installing a defibrillator outside the building for anyone in the area to use in an emergency.
Ascend has become known for its personalised coaching and strong community feel, with members describing it as “a place you belong, not just a place you work out.” Coaches live locally and run regular social events, from run clubs to yoga brunches.
The open day will feature a team fitness challenge, bake sale, coffee stand from Roastworks, and a free sim racing experience from The Circuit Club.
Co-owner Tom Morgan said: “Making it 12 months is a massive milestone. As a very small family-run setup, buying a defib on our own was a bit out of reach, but we wanted to give something genuinely meaningful back to the community we’ve spent the last year building.
“Pop down for the open day, jump into the team challenge, and have a play on these incredible sim setups we have next door. It's gonna be a vibe!”
The gym and yoga studio based at Unit B2, Ethmar Court, Four Cross Avenue, Willand.
