WITH a fine week of weather, and the course in superb condition for the time of year, Downes Crediton Golf Club members enjoyed some good competition that saw some excellent scoring.
On Monday, February 19 Frank Sanders and Graham Jones stole the show, scoring a tremendous better ball stableford score of 48 points, 12 under par.
This ensured the duo a two-point victory over their nearest challengers, Mike Hammond and Steve Gidley (46 pts) whilst David Cousins and Martin Howe posted 45 points to take third place.
June Mitchell won the Ladies Stableford on Thursday, February 22 with a score of 27 points. Joe Coe took second place while Sue Bond finished in third.
Saturday, February 24 saw Downes members play a Team Medalford, a format that sees groups score medal on the front nine then stableford on the back with the final total being the stableford score deducted from the medal total.
Matt Dyne, Graham Dyne and Chet Greenslade were victorious scoring a hugely impressive total of 18 which translates to 16 under par.
This saw them take a massive nine-shot winning margin over their nearest challengers, Dave Sims, Nick Murch and John Ponsford (27) with Matt Redstone, Dave Hill and Paul Sandercock taking third, two shots further back, scoring 29.
