DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played a three-player Texas scramble competition on Monday, March 11 which saw the team of Andrew Chandler, Simon Mannell and Brian Williams finish in top spot with a fantastic score of 58.

This score beat the nearest team of Gerry Hodder, Peter Russell and Alan Willey who came second with a score of 61.6 while Jim Dunlop, Rick Eidam and Dennis Wright finished third with a score of 61.6, but losing to a better back nine.

It was a very tough day on Saturday, March 16 with winds hitting more than 50mph but that didn’t stop Downes members from playing in the four ball better ball competition.

It was the pair of Gerry Hodder and Di Botterill who took top spot with a brilliant score of 39 points in some extremely tough conditions while the pair of Jim Dunlop and Neil Wilson finished second with a great score of 38 points to beat Tristan Kershaw and Rodin Mackay who also scored 38 points but lost to a better back nine.
