DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played a betterball stableford for the Joe Liversage Cup on Monday, June 25, which saw some tremendous scoring with the duo of Andrew Gilg and Brian Kelly topping the scoreboard to take victory with 47 points.
David Moss and Roger Field (46 points) were placed second whilst Graham Jones and Frank Sanders took third posting 45 points.
Neil Wilson won the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, June 27 with Jason Arnold (35 points) beating two others on the same score to take second place.
On Thursday, June 28, Fran Shrubsole and Betty Willey won the Killard Leavy Foursomes with a superb 40 point tally to leave Rebecca Aven and June Mitchell (36 points) four shots in their wake in second place. Third place went to Joyce Gilg and Doreen Warren who scored 35 points.
Downes men and ladies played in the Captains’ Centenary and Charity Stableford on Saturday, June 30 and leading the way was Podge Edgecumbe with a great score of 41 points.
As well as the overall victory Podge also won Division Three, one point clear of Simon March and Katie Cornish who finished second and third respectively.
Division One was won by Mark Harris posting 40 points with both Richard Dyer and Jason Arnold scoring 38 points to take second and third.
Tom Baber topped Division Two with 38 points with Daniel Knight and Neil Baber (both 36 points) placed second and third.
Sunday, July 1 saw Downes ladies and men play in the Cynthia King Robinson Bowl, a mixed betterball stableford.
The husband and wife pair of Alan and Betty Willey took the victory with a fine 41 points whist Sue and Alan Barr followed in second posting 38 points.
