DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors took to the course on Monday, April 16 for a roll up and with beautiful weather and the sun shining they were all looking forward to a good day’s golf.

Graham Cox took top spot with 34 points beating Roger Field, who also scored 34 points, with a better back nine. David Moss finished in third place with 32 points.

The sun continued to shine for the seniors again on Wednesday, April 18 as they played their annual Wednesday Wizard competition.

It was Steve Gidley who stole the show shooting a brilliant score of 38 points and taking the trophy. John Hooper won the Wise Owl Trophy this year as he scored 19 points on the front nine.

The winner of this week’s Wednesday Stableford was Gerry Tomlinson who scored a superb 40 points.

Thursday, April 19 saw Downes Ladies host a coffee morning and golf at Downes. A large turn out of members, guests and visitors enjoyed some great golf and fine Downes hospitality on a fun and enjoyable day.

Saturday, April 21 saw two events take place, a morning Roll Up Stableford and an afternoon St George’s Day fun event.

The morning roll up saw Adam Hull score an impressive 41 points to take the victory, two points clear of second placed Ryan Cross (39 pts).

A trio of players followed with scores of 37 points with Will Cockerham third, Duncan Cooper fourth and Dan Knight fifth.

The Afternoon St George’s Day nine hole fun event saw the two Downes Professionals captain two sides in a challenge match.

Devon Greenslade captained the St George’s team whilst Barry Austin captained The Dragons.

After a fierce and bloody battle the Dragons eventually ran out victors winning by a margin of nine points.

The best two individual scores of the match came from Rebecca Aven and Wayne Moore who both posted 18 points.
