MONDAY, October 29 saw Downes Crediton seniors play their final trophy competition of the season, The Hip Hooray, an individual stableford.

Tom Long took the overall honours and victory in Division One scoring a fine 38 points followed by Pete Russell (36pts) and Edward Copp (36pts) whom finished second and third respectively.

Division Two saw a trio of players post 31 points but it was Colin Ray who took top spot followed by Robin Tooze and Paul Dorothy.

Downes Ladies played a Canadian Foursomes on Thursday, November 1 and Lady Captain Sue Barr along with Lyn Parry scored a fine win posting 34 points.

Shirley Stunell and June Mitchell posted 32 points to take second.

A good field turned out for the November Medal on Saturday, November 3, and with good weather and a course in fine condition there was some fantastic scores posted.

Nick Staddon produced the round of the day, scoring a tremendous nett 61 (nine under par) for a two shot victory over second placed Matt Brooks (nett 63).

Club stalwart Andy Frankum followed in third scoring a nett 64 whilst Darren Clifford finished fourth out of a gaggle of five players who all posted nett 67’s.

On Sunday, November 4 the Club Stableford saw Kevan Macpherson victorious, scoring 41 points, beating Robert Buglass (41pts) and Martin Garnsey (41pts) into second and third by virtue of a better back nine holes.

Kev Cole followed in fourth scoring 38 points.

Barry Austin
