DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played a three man team two scores to count medal competition on Monday, November 26 and it was the team of Jim Kenshole, David Vowden and Nick Bromell who took top spot with a fantastic score of 128 (12 under).
Peter Caston, Jim Dunlop and Tom Berry shot 129 (11 under) to take second place whilst Kevin Woolacott, Ian Steer and Peter Carr finished third with a score of 130 (10 under).
Saturday, December 1 saw the club get together to play a team Texas Scramble with a shotgun start at 9.30am.
David Bunclark, Adrian Cram and Joe Hull stole the show as they shot a fantastic 61 (9 under) to finish in top spot while the team of Terry Banbury, Adrian Snell and Tim Staite finished in second with nett 64 (6 under).
The team of Tom Berry, Peter Blinkhorn and Jim Dunlop finished third with a score of 65 (5 under) whilst Kate Cornish, Jon Cornish and John Smale were the leading mixed team posting a 67 (3 under).
After golf there was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse as all the prizes from the previous three weeks’ Christmas competitions were presented. Well played to all the festive winners.
The winners of this year’s “Daily Mail” Foursomes Qualifier, played on December 2, and the pair that will represent Downes in next year’s competition, were Andy Frankum and Chris Bruce who shot a tremendous nett 65 (5 under).
Following close on their heels were the duo of Kevin Cole and Rodin Mackay scoring a nett 66 (4 under) to finish second.
