MEMBERS of Downes Crediton Golf Club played their Sunday Stableford on May 27 in tremendous weather with the course very different from previous weeks.

Matt Redstone took the spoils with a brilliant score of 37 points beating Richard Dyer who scored 36 points to finish second and Chris Bruce finished third with 36 points but lost to a worst back nine.

The winner of the mid week Stableford played on Wednesday, May 30 was Richard Dyer who kept up his good form by scoring a massive 42 points and beating Kevin Smith who scored 38 points. In third place was Matt Brooks who also scored 38 points by a better back nine.

The fourth ladies LGU Medal was played on Thursday, May 31 with Lyn Parry taking top spot scoring a great score of nett 73 to beat June Mitchell who scored nett 76 to take Division One victory.

In Division Two Sue Bonner finished top with a impressive score of nett 74 with Di Botterill, also scored nett 74 but was beaten by a better back nine.

Kes Blackmore won the Thursday evening stableford with a fantastic score of 21 points.

Downes members played the annual President’s Prize on Saturday, June 2 and with a fantastic turn out of nearly 100 players the scores were always going to be brilliant.

It was Adam Westle who stole the show with an amazing score of 44 points to win overall and Division Three. He beat Ashley Cross who finished second overall but took Division Two top spot.

It was Matt Coates who finished third overall with a score of 40 points being beaten by a better back nine but he did win Division One.

In the ladies prize Kate Cornish continued her great form with a superb score of 38 points beating Rebecca Aven who scored 36 points.

A massive well done goes to the Crediton Palairet team who beat Portmore at Tiverton 4-1 on Sunday, June 3 to progress into the next round.
