ON Monday, July 9, in front of a big crowd of friends and family, Sandford School children enjoyed their annual sports day.

It was a beautifully sunny day and the children were grateful for the shade of the trees.

To begin with the whole school were divided into mixed age house groups to complete a carousel of activities including shot put, long jump and speed bouncing. There was great encouragement and support from older children to younger members of the houses.

When all the points had been totalled the Kingfisher houses were named the champions.

The children enjoyed a well-earned break and an ice lolly, kindly provided by the Friends of Sandford School, before moving on to the year group sprints and relays.

As is tradition, the Year 6 commentators took to the microphone to keep the crowd informed during the sprints.
