RADDON Stephenson, a former student at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton, recently ran the Manchester Marathon in three hours, three minutes and 39 seconds.

Raddon is currently in his second year of studying music at Manchester University and trained for the race both in Manchester and at home in the Devon hills.

With the help of friends and family, he has raised a total of £1,605 (including Gift Aid) for the charity Second Sight which funds cataract operations in Bihar, one of India’s poorest states.

The money will go to developing surgeries, training surgeons and paying for operations (at the cost of just £20 each), helping to bring about the charity’s finite goal to eradicate curable blindness in Bihar by the end of 2020.

Raddon said that any further donations would be greatly appreciated.
