WEDNESDAY, May 25 saw Crediton United Youth Football Club Under 10s enjoy a training session with a difference.

To round off the season, Ben Spiers of Precision Soccer and Sean Schofield of Inflatafun were drafted in to provide some awesome activities and music.

The squad went up against one another in inflatable sumo suits, on an inflatable obstacle course, rolling out of control in inflatable zorbs....and, of course, putting their football skills to the test within an inflatable pitch!

Crediton United’s main pitch was kindly loaned to host the event for the evening, so parents looked on (and away at times when the player’s competitiveness came to the fore in the sumo suits!) at the antics from the stands.

The evening was then rounded off with a meal at The Red Deer thanks to Manager, Andy Mansfield (Finnian’s dad), where 28 excitable, but very well behaved children (plus lots of additional parents and siblings) were fed and watered. Apologies go to anyone looking for a quiet dining experience there on that evening!

The food was fab, hitting the spot for the hungry players and the service and staff were brilliant.

Once fed, the squad and their siblings took on a new lease of life and organised, amongst themselves, a mass game of “it” outside the Red Deer...great evidence of how the team have jelled throughout the season, and how they seem to have endless energy!

All in all it proved to be a great evening.

Special thanks go to the girls - Emily Gribble, Megan Hartshorne, Sophie Hartshorne and Rosie Rook, who have tirelessly stood in the wind, rain and cold all season selling hot drinks, cakes, sweets and other refreshments in the “Pop-Up Cafe” (aka table in the middle of a field) which funded the evening and helped towards other club events.

A massive thanks goes to Ben Spiers, Sean Schofield, Andy Mansfield, The Red Deer and Crediton United Football Club.
