Crediton 4 - Central 1
SATURDAY, October 24 saw Crediton Under 15s host the home fixture against Central, having just played them last weekend.
Despite the drizzle and gloom, Crediton were buoyed up from a couple of wins.
Crediton began the match with the drive for three in a row, with Finn having an opportunity and hitting the post within the first few minutes.
Knoxy however seized an opportunity, finding the back of the net just 10 minutes in. Crediton 1-0 Central.
Crediton continued to dominate the game with another goal from Finn just 10 minutes later. Crediton 2-0 Central.
Central had an opportunity from a corner just before half-time, but it was cleared from danger.
The rest of the second half was a little quiet, both in terms of play and team talk, with Frase taking a break from the game. He was soon back on and thankfully vocalisations were resumed.
Kieren and Luis worked hard, knocking the ball around in the middle of the pitch, with Crediton having much of the possession in the first half.
Half-time score: Crediton 2-0 Central.
Coaches for the match were Steve the Postie James and Dazza (who did a fine job “running” the line). They gave their usual encouraging team talk – self belief, win the tackles and take possession of the ball.
The second half saw us take our usual bit of a break, taking our eye off the ball.
Tyler saved our skin by making a clearance from the line, followed by Big Joe needing to do the same a few minutes later – outstanding efforts.
Central continued on the attack with an opportunity from a corner cleared by a punch from Reece.
The score remained 2-0 to Crediton, but not for long. Following a “Pickford challenge”, Central finally found the back of the net: Crediton 2-1 Central.
With a long seven minutes remaining, Knoxy bagged his second. With Central down to 10 men, Knoxy put the game to bed with his third. Final score Crediton 4-1 Central.
Once again a great team effort from all and another well deserved win. Crediton are, for now, sitting jointly at the top of the table.
