CREDITON hosted Appledore last Tuesday evening (August 23) looking to make it back-to-back wins after the previous Friday evening win over Bovey Tracey.

Appledore came into the game pointless with Crediton knowing it was an excellent chance to get three valuable points on the board.

The hosts lined up in their preferred formation of 4-3-3, with both sides donning eye-catching full yellow and full orange kits.

After a cagey opening Crediton started getting on the ball and took the lead midway through the half, after a Stevie Morish lay off, Bilcock wrapped his foot around one from 25 yards out, luckily for him the ball took a monumental deflection (bringing the ball back on target) smashed the underside of the bar and went in.

Just before the half-time oranges Morish picked up the ball in a dangerous one-on-one situation, obviously the Appledore full-back hadn’t been studying the one video available of Morish in attacking situations, to the surprise of nobody (except the Appledore full-back) the pacy winger dummied inside and went on the outside and the clumsy full-back sliced him down in the box.

Bilcock cooly stepped up and tucked the penalty away for 2-0. With the back four looking solid the score remained 2-0 at the break.

Crediton came out after the break and carried on in the same vein restricting the visitors to half chances at best.

With 65 minutes on the clock and Morish making the other full back look a mug, using an identical trick to win a penalty in a carbon copy of the first, Bilcock stepped up and went to the other corner to complete his first hat-trick for the club (I believe?).

There was still time for Dan McCann to come off the bench and tap home a Morish cross from six yards to round off the scoring.

A comprehensive win for the hosts who dominated for the near entirety of the match. Morish with four assists missed out on man of the match honours to the impressive Bilcock who bagged a cheeky hatty but it was an all-round efficient team performance.
