Exeter City FC supports Level Playing Field weeks of action

CELEBRATING the match day experience for fans with disabilities is currently the focus of action being taken across the country by football clubs as part of the charity, Level Playing Field’s "weeks of action" campaign, which began on March 3 and runs to March 18.

Exeter City Football Club, Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association, Exeter City Supporters Trust and its One Game One Community Group is fully supporting the campaign.

Level Playing Field believes as everyone at Exeter City FC, that fans are an important part of the game.

By getting involved and by promoting access and inclusion, Exeter City FC says it is helping by making a big difference to supporters with disabilities enjoy their match day and the beautiful game.

A spokesman for the club said: "Football, as the nation’s favourite game has a key leadership role in promoting access, tackling discrimination and ensuring everyone has the opportunity and ability, to enjoy the game.

"It makes good sense to provide an inclusive environment with the clubs continued working partnership with our Disabled Supporters Association and One Game, One Community Group as they both do great work in ensuring that supporters with disabilities can have an enjoyable match day experience and a voice at the club.

The spokesman continued: "These are exciting times for our football club as redevelopments are taking place. Working with our association members and with their great ideas put to us, we’ll be further improving our facilities for those with disabilities and there will be some additions in the form of more accessible wheelchair areas and a changing room, just to name a few, so please keep a lookout for updates.

"The club continues to work hard in making improvements to all its policies which includes policies on disability.

"We’re leading the way with our Policy on Assistance Dogs, as a great deal of football clubs still don’t have this sort of policy and we encourage all clubs to really consider having one as it helps greatly with staff training and understanding how many different types of assistant dogs there are.

"Our Disability Policy has also been reviewed and updated to include changes to disability benefits.

Club directors, staff and members of other departments at the football club continue to take part in equality and diversity training, provided by the Football League and Level Playing Field."
