CREDITON was honoured to be chosen to launch new sponsorships for women’s football in Devon, bringing one of the three new sponsors and special guests from the FA to the match at Lords Meadow.

This was when Crediton Ladies played Exeter City on Sunday, October 10. Crediton went into the lead early then Exeter got a goal right on half-time to equalise.

Crediton made a great start to the second half with a goal in the first minute after restart and then continued to dominate possession and Cheyenne completed her hat-trick to see Crediton win 3-1.

This was the ladies’ best performance since they were formed and gained another three points.

Their next home match is Sunday, October 31 with a 2pm kick-off. They were at Budleigh last Sunday (October 17).

Crediton Wildcats also took part. Wildcats has been running for nearly three years for girls between five and 11 years.

It is a fantastic first step into football and they then progress into girls’ squads. Currently Crediton has girls Under 9’s, Under 11’s and Under 13’s all playing in the Devon Girls’ league.

The Wildcats came out with their home team, lined up before the start as club mascots, then marched off, returning for a short display during half-time.

New sponsors for the League are Joma who make sports clothing, Stitch2Print and Independent Payment Solutions.

The League is now known as the Joma Devon Women’s Football League. Crediton also received its two match balls before the start of last Sunday’s game.

Dr Rod Hawker, League chairman, who was at the match on October 10, commented that it had been a great, evenly contested match.

“A great win for Crediton and in front of a home crowd that many clubs can only dream of.”

Crediton Ladies was only formed in March 2021 with all the players living around Crediton and nearly all having played for Crediton Youth, developing a very strong team spirit with great atmosphere in the squad.

In their first season they have made a great start to their league campaign!

“We thank our current sponsors Bedford and Co, Graphic plc, Dolphin Stairlifts and Sidaways and all the coaches and volunteers who help enabled such great match day experiences for our players and supporters,” said manager Sean Hartrey.

He added: “With attendances of more than 100 for all home games, the atmosphere is fantastic and helps our team perform.”
