Crediton Reserves 4 Thorverton 4

WHAT a game of football we had on Saturday when Crediton Reserves played Thorverton First team at Crediton.

The pitch was very wet but OK. It was a credit to both sides when Crediton went 1 - 0 down early on, never a penalty but the referee said it was. Even Thorverton’s manager said: “No”.

The goal stood. Thorverton were on top at that stage.

One became two shortly after, they were playing very well.

Crediton lost our centre forward early in the game to injury which threw a spanner in the works for a little while but the management team soon changed things around.

Groomy went up front where he used to play many moons ago and did a really good job with his long legs. He was winning headers and laying the ball off for others to latch on to and 2 - 0 soon became 2 - 1 then 2 - 2.

Crediton were on a roll, some good passing between the Crediton team was key, 3 - 2.

A peach of a goal put Crediton in front. At this point the referee lost it a bit, £12 for a booking, I think there were four per side, £96 for the county.

It was cut and thrust but never dirty, 3 - 2 and 15 minutes to go, then 3 - 3, come on lads, 4 - 3.

Crediton were in front. Wonderful. We can win this second and the League and we are winning.

Five minutes left and Thorverton made it 4 - 4, what a game, well supported with around 50 people there.

I think the whole of the First Team were there supporting which was very good to see.

Thank you lads and at the last home game the Seconds supported the First Team. That is how it should be.

Well done to both sets of management and players.

I have not mentioned names. I have run out of paper, you all know who you are.

From your President who was at the game which ended 2 - 2 last week against Chagford who are third in the League.

This week 4 - 4 against Thorverton, who are second. Keep it up lads.

Goal scorers: Ben Pike 2, Callum Stone and Groomy 1 each.
