CREDITON UNITED 1 - BRIDPORT 1

THIS was a magnificent result for the young Crediton side as they matched Bridport in every facet and it’s fair to say that they created more chances over the 90 minutes than their illustrious opponents from Dorset.

Bridport are generally one of the big hitters in this league but not today, even though they took a 13th minute lead in this match through a scruffy goal from Ryan Gall after a melee in the home penalty box.

The hero of the day was Crediton centre half Louis Garnsworthy as the lad repelled everything that was thrown at him over the 90.

Also there was a stunning performance from winger Jacob Fever who added to his goal on Tuesday at Okehampton with another delightful finish on the stroke of half time.

By the end of the half there was nothing between the sides and they both deserved the half time orange.

The second half largely belonged to the home side as time after time they came close.

New lad Tariq Gasmi ploughed a lone furrow up front and thoroughly worked his socks off.

Captain Jack Perry scuffed a shot when well placed and Elis Aldrich had a shot well tipped over by the Port goalie.

Louis Garnsworthy had also been unlucky hitting the post with a header.

Briport kept pushing forward trying to find the goal that might have won them the game but Crediton held on and created more chances of their own despite a linesman giving plenty of offsides which were questionable.

The assessor was right behind him at the time and was scribbling furiously.

When the whistle blew for the end of the match it was the home side who deserved a well earned pat from manager Fred Tonkin and they all received a terrific round of applause from the home faithful in what was a tidy crowd.

Next up is another home game vs University of Exeter who return to the Peninsula after a brief absence. It is usually good to play them before the big guns come back from holiday but we shall see.
