CREDITON United Ladies 2021/22 season campaign got off to a good start on Sunday, September 5.

This is the Ladies debut season in the Devon Women’s Football League East Division, having formed only six months ago.

Their first match saw them take on West Exe Park Rangers Women at home.

An estimated 150 turned out to enthusiastically support the Ladies at the Lords Meadow ground in bright humid conditions.

West Exe had the upper-hand early on but only managed to put one past the Crediton ‘keeper before the half-time whistle.

The Crediton manager’s team talk did the trick as the ladies came out fighting after the break, giving West Exe a tough time.

Crediton pulled a goal back thanks to Erin Lancelles connecting from a corner and putting it in the back of the net to huge cheers from the stands.

The Ladies kept the pressure on and tired the opposition, allowing Leanne Bailey to make a fast break past the defenders and find a second Crediton goal to put them ahead.

The full-time result was Crediton United Ladies 2, West Exe Park Rangers 1.

Crediton United Ladies Manager Sean Hartrey said: “Fantastic result for us, really proud of all our Ladies.

“The three points today are a great reward for the hard efforts everyone has put in to get us here.

“Big thanks to the players, coaching staff, the club and all our generous sponsors. We’re looking forward to the next game.”

Crediton Ladies’ next game is away to West Exe Park Rangers on Sunday, September 12.
