HEART of Devon Swords Fencing Club is running a beginners’ sabre taster workshop at West Exe School, Exeter, on Thursday, October 30.
The introductory sabre session is for aspiring fencers of all ages, from teenagers to OAPs, and costs £10.
Sabre is one of the three weapon disciplines in the sport of fencing, as featured in every modern Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The club aims to follow the taster session with a full beginner course, after which novices will be ready to join Heart of Devon Swords, a British Fencing-affiliated club.
“Whether your inspiration to try swordplay is GBR paralympic medallist Dimitri Coutya, Kpop demon hunters or classic films like The Duellists, fencing is serious fun,” said coach Jason Ball.
“We'll wear protective gear, of course - I provide all the kit you need as a beginner.”
Trainees should book in advance by emailing [email protected] and come dressed for a fitness class with long leggings or training trousers.
