A SPECIAL Memorial Cricket Match was held at Spreyton on Tuesday, July 31 with money raised going to three charities.

Secretary of Yeoford Cricket Club, Jackie Coren said: “It was a great evening for the Cleave All Stars v Yeoford Cricket Club match in memory of former scorer, Eve Collins, Les Stanbury, former player and umpire and James Uren.

“Huge thank you to Spreyton Cricket Club for the use of their facilities, Roger Cudlip of The Tom Cobley for the bar and delicious pork rolls and for the very generous donation, Bob Unsworth and John Saunders for umpiring and Nanette Unsworth for scoring.

“Big thanks also to Cleave Collins for organising the event. Not least of all...to all who played cricket and the spectators.

“A total of £370 was raised to be divided between Hospiscare, Cancer Research and Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

“A splendid evening was had by all with YCC winning in the last over.”

A special thanks also came from Cleave Collins to all who supported the event, including players, helpers or spectators.
