THE smiles on everyone’s faces shows the delight of the Crediton Bowling Club ladies who had just won the County InterClub competition.

Having won the previous Saturday the final had been deferred for a week due to the heat of the previous weekend.

Their opponents were from Honiton and it was a very tense affair throughout.

Crediton were four down going into the last end but Liz Smerdon produced a magnificent final delivery and victory was secured 34-33.

The ladies Three-Wood combination of Amy Simpson, Liz Smerdon and Helen Ellis had already qualified to represent Devon at the National Finals to be held this week at Leamington Spa.

They made sure of travelling as Devon champions after they defeated Plymstock 15-13.

Their first fixture will be on Thursday, August 25, at 2.30pm against Hereford.

Also making the trip will be Nikki Payne. She will be competing in the Two-Wood having received her runners-up cup after being narrowly defeated in the Devon final.

Tiverton WE A 4 - Crediton A 4 - first in the league.

Crediton B 6 - Madeira C 2 - fourth in the league.
