A LOCAL woman is hoping people will support her charity fundraising in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Jo Jackson explained: "Like most people I have lost loved ones to cancer; my dad, two aunties, six cousins and most recently my wonderful sister Kath - 10 amazing members of our family GONE!

"As part of my journey to get fit, I want to do my bit to help stop cancer. At my heaviest I was 98kg (15.4 stone), now I’m 78.9kg and no longer obese, I still have a way to get down to my ideal weight, but I will get there.

"I have been challenged by my PT, Leigh Kinch, to row 10,000 m every day for 10 days, for the 10 family members I have lost. I am in training for this now and the challenge will run from August 10 to 19.

"Thank you to everyone at Mid Devon Leisure and especially all my friends and colleges at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre in Crediton for all their incredible support.

"I will be posting everyday on my Instagram account with my progress, there will be pain and there will be blisters. (I won’t share all those though).

"All I ask is that you spare a little time to help me raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK through your donations or just sharing this story.

"Together we can beat this! The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured."
