NORTH Tawton Bowling Club’s outdoor season has now finished, however thanks to our Secretary Gordon Denham the Indoor Short Mat Bowls continues at the Club House.

Club days take place on Tuesdays at 2pm and Thursdays at 7pm. Anyone interested please come along.

After the outdoor season finished, straight away working parties began work on the green with our summer of 2020 of various important fixtures in mind. These include visits from the Devon President’s team, the North Devon Triples League finals plus touring sides.

So the green will be, thanks to greenkeepers Rob Arscott and Dave Cooper, at its very best.

Results from the 2019 season included the following:

Internal Club competitions - Men’s winners: Wonnacott Cup (Club Champion) Tom Watson; Avery Cup - Lloyd Reynolds; Legion Cup - John Kinsey, Chris Ainger and Mike Thwaites; Stoneman Cup - Gordon Denhama and Paul Andrews.

Ladies winners: Powlesland Cup - Jan Summers; Mary Lee Cup - Pam Davis; Triples Cup - Margaret Arscott, Margaret Denham and Chris Ainger; Vallance Pairs Cup - Margaret Arscott and Anita Lamey; Handicap Cup - Anita Lamey; Legion Rose Bowl -Margaret Arscott.

The team games in both ladies and men’s saw some very good games and some good results in their respective leagues.

The star turns were the A Team in the North Devon Triples getting into the First Division, plus in the Over 60’s League the C Team were promoted to Division Two.

The rest of the sides in Shield and Over 60’s and North Devon Triples both Ladies and Men’s managed to stay in their respective leagues.

This plus all our very enjoyable friendlies throughout the County saw out another great season for the Club.

Other News: The AGM will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at 7.30pm. The Christmas dinner and presentations will be held on Saturday, November 30 (7pm).

A quiz night will be held on Saturday, November 9 plus a Race Night on Saturday, December 7 at 7pm. All the above will take place at the clubhouse.
