AFTER the winter gales the new Club house is still standing - not even one leak! So it looks as if we are here to stay.

The winter saw the indoor short mat bowls continue with club days/nights on Tuesdays at 2pm and Thursdays at 6.30pm, all welcome.

The indoor league sides have had a busy winter with mixed results but the enjoyment levels are high. This is run by Gordon Denham, more of whom later.

The EGM saw proposals for the club for the coming summer of 2020, with new accommodation for visiting teams plus storage for vital green equipment.

A new path for the far side of the green to enable access to the club house from both sides.

The green maintenance by Robert Arscott and Dave Cooper continues at great pace and thanks to them was given by the members.

However the main event saw Gordon Denham awarded Life Membership of the Club.

This is awarded to a very few people but in Gordon’s case was well deserved as he was the Club Secretary who oversaw the funding and building of our new clubhouse.

Gordon now moves over to Fixture Secretary and Anita Lamey steps up to the mat as new Club Secretary.

Our Spring meeting for members will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 7.30pm and our Opening Day, open to all, is on Saturday, April 18 at 2pm.

Please come along, beginners and others alike, and be assured of a warm welcome.

Mike Thwaites

President.
