LIZ Smerdon and Joan Martin from Crediton Bowling Club recently won their section in the Ladies Pairs County Competition.

In their first game they travelled to meet a pair at Topsham with the reward of victory meaning they then played at Crediton against fellow club members Amy Simpson and Muriel Scott.

Liz and Joan are through to the last 16 in the County and will now face the winners of Section 5b on July 12 at a neutral venue.

Liz has also progressed to the last 16 of the singles where she will meet the winner of Section 1a on July 17.

The first round was played in atrocious conditions at Topsham but Liz beat three others to take her place in the final 16.

We wish her luck in both tournaments and in the County Mixed Pairs where she undoubtedly has a huge handicap as she’s chosen to play with the writer of this column!
