STUDENTS from Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton chose Lawn Green Bowling for their games lessons this term.
Crediton Bowling Club arranged to hook up with the curriculum at the local school to give an option for students to learn to play lawn green bowling during this current term.
Christine Marshall, Ladies Secretary at Crediton Bowling Club, said: “The students seem enthusiastic and keen and are welcomed by the club members who are helping to run the sessions several times each week.
“The club is hoping that some of the youngsters will realise that bowling can be a young person’s game - indeed many of the England team at the Commonwealth Games were young people, with seven of the squad coming from Devon.
“There is plenty of support from Bowls England to bring on the young players and it is hoped that some might want to pursue the sport after their term of bowling.
“The club has a number of coaches to help beginners get to know the game better and advance in ability.”
Crediton Bowling Club will be holding a Taster Play Bowls day for any member of the public to go and try out bowling on Friday, May 25, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Christine said that all are welcome and she can be contacted for more details on 01363 772012.
