CREDITON Bowls player Robert Paxton recently won a Bronze Medal in the Lawn Bowls Commonwealth Games at Broadbeach, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and there to watch him was fellow Crediton Bowling Club member Christine Marshall.

Christine, in her unofficial capacity as roving correspondent for the "Courier" in Brisbane, reported: "G’day from down under.

"Just watched Robert Paxton, (our very own Crediton Bowls player), win the Bronze Medal in the Lawn Bowls Commonwealth Games here at Broadbeach, Australia.

"Robert played a brilliant game, held his nerve and came through for the England team.

"The crowds were noisy and raucous, as the Gold medal was being contested simultaneously on the next rink by the Australian, who eventually won gold for them.

"Huge congratulations to Rob, we are very proud of him at Crediton Bowling Club."
