A TEAM of 26 people from the Crediton area will take part in this year’s Cancer Research UK Race for Life at Westpoint, Clyst St Mary, Exeter on Saturday, July 19.
The majority of the group are staff from Pippins Pre-School and Nursery.
Sharleen Treen, manager of the Crediton Pre-School and Nursery explained: “We know Cancer affects a lot of our community, sadly it has hit closer to home for us.
“Some of us are taking part in this year's Race for Life as team 'Dazzling Dymonds’.
“Our Deputy manager Michelle Dymond's husband Rob has recently undergone surgery and is currently receiving treatment for Cancer, having already beat this awful disease 20 years ago.
“Rob is an amazing man who is always helping us with DIY at Pippins and Kidz Star Club, giving lots of his own time to help us in any way he can with jobs around the setting.
“Rob is an incredibily fit and healthy man who has participated in many marathons including The London Marathon, raising money for charities such as MS, Dementia, Make a Wish and Children with Cancer UK, where he raised more than £10,000.
“We have 26 people participating, 16 of those are Pippins staff, Rob and his family are also part of our running team.
“Please show your support for Rob and his family by sponsoring Cancer Research UK.”
Sharleen said that, to-date, the group has already raised more than £2,615 plus £575 in Gift Aid.
