Are you a budding artist aged 25 or under? Could you create an original piece of work that responds to the theme of ‘Art and Emotion’ by 5pm on Sunday 3 May? Why not submit an entry to ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ – the Children and Young People’s Open recently launched by The Box, with the support of Arts University Plymouth.
It’s free to enter and open to anyone aged 0–25 living in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Any medium is welcome while prizes up for grabs include £150 to spend in The Box’s shop and the chance to have your work displayed at The Box this summer, coinciding with a major exhibition of more than 60 works from the Government Art Collection. The exhibition has been shaped by conversations and workshops with a diverse group of local teenagers and young adults over the last year and will pair works by leading artists with honest reflections from young people aged 13–25.
To take part in ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ email your entry to [email protected] with ‘Children and Young People’s Open 2026’ in the subject line and your full name and age category in your message.
Label the file you send with your initials, the date of entry (DDMMYY), your age category (Early Years (EY), Primary (P), Secondary (S) or 18–25 (YP)), and the first part of your postcode. For example, the label for Joe Bloggs from Stonehouse, Plymouth who submits an entry on April 17 in the young person’s category would be: JB170426YP-PL1.
You can find full details as well as Terms & Conditions at https://www.theboxplymouth.com/wheres-your-head-at. Please make sure you submit original work created by you. Entries made with AI won’t be accepted!
