The Duck at Yeoford is tucked away in one of the West Country villages on the Tarka Line, this country pub is a destination in its own right, where timeless rural charm, outstanding food, and warm, intuitive hospitality come together effortlessly. It has become one of the Devon’s most celebrated places to eat, drink, and unwind, having won The Best Destination Pub in Devon award in 2024.

At the heart of the experience is an award-winning chef and owner James Parkinson, whose passion for seasonal, locally sourced ingredients shines through every dish. Showcasing the very best produce from Devon’s farms, coastlines, and artisan suppliers, the menu combines refined cooking with the warmth and comfort expected of a truly great British country pub. Whether gathering beside the fire in the cooler months or enjoying long countryside afternoons in the garden, guests are welcomed into an atmosphere that is both elegant and unpretentious, a place where exceptional food meets genuine West Country hospitality.

Inside, roaring fires, characterful spaces, a private dining room and a relaxed elegance create the perfect setting for long, leisurely lunches and intimate evening dinners. Outside, the garden invites guests to slow down and savour the beauty of the countryside, next to our purpose-build children's play area. For wetter days and cooler months we have our outdoor Duck Shed, which is heated in winter, as an outdoor space.

Proudly recognised in the Food Drink Devon awards 2025/6 winning a Gold for our food and awarded Best Takeaway in Devon. Proudly named among the Top 100 Pubs in Britain 2025, this much-loved destination continues to attract visitors from across the country seeking memorable food, fine drinks, and the charm of an authentic village pub experience.

This multi-roomed 19th century free-house is easily accessible (2mins walk) from Yeoford Station on The Tarka Line connecting Exeter to Barnstaple. Locally brewed Devon ales, including our own label Muddy Duck ale, local Devon lagers, Sandford Cider. We also have our own wine label: Dry White, Fruity Red and Rosé.

We serve a different menu for lunch and dinner, but always fish, steak, and a salad, with a vegetarian and vegan option. Our signature dish is Creedy Carver Confit Duck Leg Cassoulet. Puddings are utterly tempting with Sticky Toffee Pudding, a Chocolate Brownie, Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Parfait or our artisan cheese board. There's a children's menu and kitchen nibbles are available throughout the day.
