Crediton Town Council says it budgets a sum of money every financial year for grants to local voluntary or charitable organisations where the activities will contribute to, and be of benefit to, the life or community and benefit the people of Crediton.

The Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Frank Letch, said: “It is one of the obligations of the Town Council to award grants to a range of deserving groups who do so much for the town.

“The grants we give are governed by strict criteria and continue to represent about eight per cent of the council’s budget.”

Crediton Town Clerk, Mrs Rachel Avery, said that the grant applications were considered by the Grants committee and the decisions were approved at the Crediton Town Council meeting on February 16.

She said: “Crediton Town Council is very pleased to be supporting so many organisations which make a valuable contribution to the well-being of the community and people in it.”

Mrs Avery said that any other community organisations wishing to apply for funding should contact the town council for further information.
