CREDITON Town Council has grant funded £4,000 to Crediton Methodist Church to support the running of a Youth Cafe in the wake of the closure of the Devon County Council-run Youth Centre in the town.
The funding will be used for the employment of a sessional worker to support youth worker Lauren Strand (currently employed by Crediton Methodist Church) in the running of these events for young people.
The council has also recently approved more than £13,000 worth of applications for grant funds for the financial year 2015/16 from town organisations and projects.
Annual grants include: Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau £1,800, Crediton Area History and Museum Society £1,000, Crediton Arts Centre £1,000, Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) £1,500, Crediton Town Band £500, St Boniface Concert Society £300, Fabric Fundraising Committee, Crediton Parish Church £160 (£80 to the annual Flower Festival, £80 to the annual Christmas Tree Festival), Journey Therapeutic Counselling Service £250, Involve Mid Devon £750, Crediton Community Bookshop £200, Tarka Rail Association £50, Crediton and Tiverton Community Transport Association £1,000 and Crediton Inter-
