FLOODING issues were on the agenda at the September meeting of Crediton Hamlets Parish Council.
A parishioner, who attended the meeting, gave an update on the ongoing drainage issues at Yeoford Recreation Field and the need to get rid of surplus storm water.
It was hoped the cost, for the works needed, could be covered by Mid Devon District Council S106 funding.
It was agreed that the Recreation Field Committee obtain an updated quotation to include all the drainage works needed and that this and the budget for these works, could be considered at the October Parish Council meeting.
The further work, it was hoped, would assist flooding issues at Yeoford Meadows.
Mid Devon District Cllr Derek Coren agreed to contact MDDC to obtain details of the current Parish S106 balance and to obtain clarification as to when these funds needed to be spent?
Following his attendance at the July Parish Council meeting Cllr John Berry (chairman, MDDC) had responded to the questions that had been raised on 1) Planning 2) Solar Panels and 3) Heritable Bank Investment.
Messrs Grant Thornton had written to confirm completion of the 2012/2013 Audit and that there would be no cost due to the Parish Council.
Mel Stride MP had responded to the letter suggesting that Chinese Lanterns be banned.
He shared the Parish Council's concerns over these issues and said: "I will continue to push for action on this issue."
A copy of the Mid Devon District Council Local Plan Review had been received in the Summer Recess and comments had been due by August 13.
District Cllr Coren had pointed out to MDDC that most councils' were not meeting until September and would be unable to meet this deadline.
It was accepted that there would be further consultation on the Review later in the year before any final decisions were taken.
Cllr George Mortimer agreed to attend the Raddon Hill meeting on September 15.
Cllr Morwenna Rogers reported that works on the new Yeoford Community Hall were on schedule and that solar panels would be built in to the roof.
There were ongoing problems at Folly Bridge, Uton where the side of the road was dropping away. Cllr Rene Jarvis had reported this to the Highway Authority and the clerk agreed to follow this up.
Ongoing problems over the green lane surface from Demmitts Farm to Posbury Camp were reported. Issues over speeding at Venny Tedburn were still being reviewed and it was reported that parishes in West Devon were using TAP funds for parish lengthsman work.
The chairman, Cllr Peregrine Leigh, reported on a joint meeting he had attended with Crediton Town Council and the Crediton branch of the Royal British Legion, to discuss arrangements for the 2013 Remembrance Service and Laying of Wreaths.
The next meeting of the council will take place at the Council Chambers, Market Street, Crediton on Monday, October 7 at 7.30pm. Parishioners are welcome to attend and raise local issues needing attention.
