THE April meeting of COLEBROOKE was well attended and we welcomed one new member. Our delegate for the Spring Council meeting was given the WI logo cup and saucer (which was kindly lent to us by Zeal Monachorum WI) ready for the competition of a small flower arrangement.
Our trip to Cothay Manor gardens has been booked together with the coach and several members are going on the Cockington walk.
All those that went to the Red Earth Group meeting at Down St Mary had an enjoyable evening, with an interesting and informative speaker followed by a very good supper.
Our speaker for the evening was Colin Gale, who gave us an introduction to Heraldry. This is a fascinating subject and an hour-long talk "just scratched the surface".
Our next meeting will be to discuss the resolution being put forward at the AGM in London and we will be having a bring and share supper to round off the evening.

THE speaker at the April meeting of YEOFORD was John Bowers who spoke about his great interest in water divining and how he stared doing it as a business. At the end of the talk he let us all experience the craft, using metal rods - and most of us were successful at finding the water pipes in our village hall!
We reported on our successful whist drive, held at the beginning of April and discussed the competition which will take place at the group meeting at Sandford, when we have to do a flower arrangement in a sugar bowl.
The Flower of the Month competition was won by: 1 Sue Thomas, 2 Sally Landberger (a new member), 3 Betty Miller.
The May meeting is the Resolution meeting and we will also be learning how to make knitted carnations.

AT the April meeting of SANDFORD members enjoyed a talk by Mr Peter Cripps, who was a trumpeter, bandsman and band leader during a long Army career.
He played at the Queen's Coronation in London and after his successful musical career retired to live in Devon, where he is now a member of Crediton Town Band.
Peter played three instruments for members.
Members were saddened to hear of the death of Cheriton Fitzpaine member, Mrs June Sandford.
The competition for a Royal Souvenir was won by: 1 Margaret Tucker, 2 Maureen Greenwood, 3 Margaret Phillips. Flower of the Month winner was Phyllis Conibere.
Members were reminded that the next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 12. This will be a short Resolutions meeting with a 50/50 stall and game of Hoy. It will be held at the Parish Hall.
The competition will be for the most number of different objects that fit in a standard sized matchbox.^
