LIKE all the other local WI's, the January meeting of COLEBROOKE was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. We had a good attendance at the February meeting but it seemed a long time since we had enjoyed our Christmas meal at the Devonshire Dumpling.

There was quite an amount of business to go through and a good interest was shown in the Spring Council Meeting in Torquay and the annual outing in May to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Our speaker was Brian Glover who told us all about the work of a dedicated team who regularly visit the Burzitsa Orphanage in Bulgaria. They spend time keeping the buildings in good repair and modernising them as necessary as well as arranging activities and trips for the children.

The children officially leave at 16 but there are now facilities for them to stay on and learn life skills ready for when they finally go independent.

All our members brought an assortment of toiletries, pens and pencils together with hats and scarves to put in the shoe boxes that are sent out to them.

After the meeting closed we had a bring and buy to raise funds towards our speakers.

We had a team entered in the County Quiz and they were fortunate to make it through to the finals at Clyst St Mary on March 20.

Our speaker in March will be Anne Pagliero talking on the "History of Fabergé Eggs".
