A WOMAN who sustained a self-harm injury on the 17.56 hours Exeter to Barnstaple train was rushed to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter by an ambulance at about 6.45pm earlier today, Sunday, June 10.

The train was brought to a halt at Lapford Station, a request stop on the picturesque Tarka Line, and the woman was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

British Transport Police Officers and Devon and Cornwall Police officers attended to assist at the incident.

A police officer, speaking at the scene, said: "A female travelling on the train sustained a self-harm injury.

"Officers attended to give help and support and the woman has now been taken to hospital."

The train was able to leave the station at Lapford at about 7pm to continue its journey to Barnstaple.

The condition of the woman is not known.
